The Pre-K (4-5 Year Olds) at Giving Tree
Giving Tree Child Development center works in conjunction with the Clover School District to ensure that the appropriate milestones and curriculum is being taught in order to have our Pre-K students more than ready to enter Kindergarten.
Our teachers encourage independence in daily activities. Children learn boundaries of behavior and develop a sense of acceptable and non-acceptable behavior. The class works on following directions, writing skills, letter recognition, phonics, math, music and science. All areas of study are designed to be developmentally appropriate and fun. Stimulating your child's desire to learn and grow in the classroom while still allowing them to be fabulously four! Spanish lessons, ettiquiette class and in room computers are also a favorite among our students!
In addition to more traditional activities we feel it is vital that children experience their surroundings, environment and community. Pre-K students have the opportunity to experience up to two field trips a month to various locations. Past trips have included; the Circus, pumpkin patches and fire departments.
As a way to encourage and nurture early reading skills our Pre-K children are also each proud holders of their very own York County Public Library cards. These come in handy when enjoying library trips and visits from the bookmobile!
We value parental partnership and encourage parents to take an active role in their child's education. Twice during the school year we schedule parent/teacher conferences and assessments. We celebrate your child's graduation from our program by a year end graduation ceremony. Of course after graduation your emerging Kindergartener is welcome to participate in our summer camp programs!
As children leave our Pre-K program we want them each to be confident and well prepared for the future. |
